While the Rocky Mountains might be synonymous with winter sports, the picturesque landscape also offers some of the most scenic, picturesque golf courses that you'll ever come across. In the Beaver Creek area, there are more than a dozen courses, ranging from local public courses, to the pristine fairways and greens of the two championship courses in the area - Beaver Creek Golf Club and Red Sky Golf Club.
Beaver Creek Golf Club
This 18-hole championship course (par: 70, yards: 6,784) is just steps away from The Pines Lodge. Carved out of the mountains, this course is best known for its long, narrow fairways and its stunning mountain views. It has been open since 1982, making it one of the oldest courses in Vail Valley. It's exclusively available to Beaver Greek lodging guests, such as those staying in The Pines Lodge, and open for play from May to October.
In 2011-12, Beaver Creek Golf Club was rated by Golf Digest as one of the top 75 golf resorts in North America. For more information and to schedule a tee time, call 970-754-5775.
Red Sky Golf Club
The Red Sky Golf Club is the other championship course located in the area, about 15 minutes from The Pines Lodge. It features two separate golf courses, which were designed by Greg "the Shark" Norman and Tom Fazio, respectively, and feature mountain views and challenging play. Although a private club, the course is also open for play to area lodging guests.
In 2011, Red Sky was named by Golf Week as "one of the best courses you can play." It's also picked up recent accolades by Forbes and Golf Digest for being one of the best private golf communities and one of the best golf resorts, respectively, in the country. For more information and to make a tee time on either of the Red Sky's courses, call 970-754-8425.
Other courses in the area include Eagle Vail Golf Club, Country Club of the Rockies, Sonnenalp Golf Club and Vail Golf Club. Contact The Pines Lodge for more information on these and other courses in the area.
