Beaver Creek Resort Summer 2006 Tips for Summer Bliss

Banish the Blues with Rocky Mountain BBQ and Cold Brews
Great eats and musical treats can be found in Beaver Creek this Memorial Day weekend at the resort’s Blues, Brews & BBQ festival. This fitting start to summer (and BBQ season) in the mountains features a variety of Blues headliners throughout the two-day festival. In addition, top BBQ chefs from Austin, Texas and the Vail Valley, as well as the winning Kansas City chef from last year’s event, will compete for top honors in the “People’s Choice” Barbeque Cook-off.  Meanwhile the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek hosts the ever popular Microbrew Tasting featuring over 100 special concoctions from 35 Colorado-based breweries. This tantalizing summer festival also includes beverage and BBQ booths throughout the village offering a sampling of the weekend’s best, as well as kids’ activities and cooking demonstrations from Bon Appetit. Beaver Creek’s Blues, Brews & BBQ festival takes place May 28 & 29, 2006. Visit us on-line at www.beavercreek.com for more information and for special BB&B lodging packages featuring extras, such as Brew Master’s dinners, commemorative gifts and special ticket packages. Guests may also call 970-845-9090 for information or reservations.

Beat  The Pro at Beaver Creek Golf Club
Looking for a little friendly competition? Look no further than the Beaver Creek Golf Club. This summer, the resort is offering its guests, as well as its members, a chance to “Beat the Pro.” Beaver Creek’s Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed 18-hole championship course is as breathtakingly stunning as it is challenging.  The course begins and ends at the edge of picturesque Beaver Creek Village, and winds its way along the resort’s namesake creek.  The Club is known not only for its natural beauty, but also for its narrow fairways, consistently excellent playing conditions and top-notch service. Beaver Creek’s “Beat the Pro” challenge takes place on any of the Club’s Par 3 holes (predetermined each day), and any resort guest or club member can participate. Place a bet – up to $100 – and take a swing. Hit the green and double your money for double credit in the Beaver Creek Pro Shop. Miss, and the folks at the Beaver Creek Golf Club will still make the gamble worthwhile; receive the amount of the bet in Shop credit. This is truly a win-win proposition! Beaver Creek Golf Club’s “Beat the Pro” is offered each Tuesday, from June 16 – Sept. 15, 2006. Beaver Creek Golf Club opens for the 2006 summer season on May 5. The Club is open to the public from May 5 – June 15 and from September 16 until the course closes in October. Beaver Creek Golf Course is open to Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead lodging guests and Club Members from June 16 until September 15, 2006. The Beaver Creek Hiking Center & Leki Offer Nordic Walking
Europe's latest health and wellness trend, Nordic Walking was introduced in Finland in 1997 and was adapted from cross-country skiing.  Beaver Creek was one of the first U.S. resorts to offer guided Nordic Walking tours and the trend is catching on. Nordic Walking incorporates specially designed poles with fitness walking. The poles feature rubber tips allowing walkers to traverse on and off pavement.  Nordic Walking is credited with helping participants to burn more calories during a walk, increase energy consumption, reduce stress to knees and lower joints, increase upper body strength and reduce heel strike force. The Beaver Creek Nordic Center offers guided Nordic Walking tours three times each week throughout the summer. Tours include stretching, strength training and an overall cardiovascular focus. Visit www.beavercreek.com or call 970-845-5373.
